Regular Season Round 25: La Spezia - Savona 62-61

Eleventh-ranked Savona (10-14) made lots of trouble for second ranked La Spezia (19-5) on Sunday. La Spezia managed to secure only one-point victory 62-61. However their fans expected much easier game. La Spezia forced 21 Savona turnovers. Strangely Savona outrebounded La Spezia 41-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Guard Martina Zolfanelli (172-1998) fired 12 points for the winners. Guard Angelica Castellani (172-2000) chipped in 12 points and 5 steals. La Spezia's coach Marco Corsolini used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Lucrezia Zanetti (178-1997, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Polish Karolina Pobozy (188-1996) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. La Spezia maintains second place in A2 with 19-5 record having just two points less than leader Valdarno. Newly promoted Savona keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. La Spezia are looking forward to face Civitanova (#14) in Civitanova Marche in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Savona will play at home against Nico Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
