There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Rustavi (9-11) smashed at home 5th ranked Vera (10-10) 91-70 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-70. Rustavi shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American power forward Raheem Johnson (208-1993, college: Buffalo) had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Luwane Pipkins (180-1996, college: Providence) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Aubrey McAlpine (196-1989, college: RMU, agency: Interperformances) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Boris Tortladze (195-2000) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rustavi have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains eighth position with 9-11 record. Loser Vera keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Titebi and Mega.
