Regular Season Round 23: AEK - Iraklis 80-74
Date: April 20, 2022
Very predictable result in Athens where fifth ranked AEK (12-10) defeated 12th ranked Iraklis (5-15) 80-74 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Iraklis was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The best player for the winners was Spanish point guard Joaquin Colom (188-1988, college: Lleida, agency: Global Sports Basketball) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 assists. The former international center Dimitris Mavroeidis (208-1985, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). AEK's coach Curro Segura used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Jamar Abrams (201-1989, college: ECU, agency: Inception Sports) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import power forward Brandon Garrett (206-1990, college: Murray St.) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. AEK have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Iraklis keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost.
