Regular Season Round 30: Alginet B - L'Alcora 97-58

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Alginet B (7-6) crushed at home one of their biggest challengers L'Alcora (7-6) 97-58 on Saturday. Alginet B dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to L'Alcora's 34. Alginet B forced 21 L'Alcora turnovers and outrebounded them 53-24 including a 36-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by L'Alcora's players. Point guard Ivan Lerin (187-2001) notched 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Pepe Briz (-2000) supported him with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Alginet B players scored in double figures. Alginet B's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points and 9 rebounds by center Alfonso Ribera (202-2001) did not help to save the game for L'Alcora. Canadian forward Bigus Bangoura (193, college: La Cite) added 10 points. Alginet B moved-up to fourth place in Group EDesc1, which they share with defeated L'Alcora. Alginet B will meet Sueca (#7) on the road in the next round. L'Alcora will play against the league's leader Archena and hope to secure a win.
