There was no surprise when 8th ranked Calpe (2-11) lost at home to fifth ranked Begastri (7-6) 65-58 on Sunday. Begastri had a 42-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Jose Fernandez (200-1978) notched 28 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and guard Pepe Llorente (185-1982) supported him with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds by Argentinian-Italian guard Juan Davini (185-1998) did not help to save the game for Calpe. Point guard Juan Crespo (180-1994) added 11 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Calpe's coach Iker Benzazoua tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Begastri moved-up to fourth place in Group EDesc2, which they share with UAF Lucentum. Calpe lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Begastri will meet at home Godella (#7) in the next round. Calpe will play against Aldaia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
