There was an upset in Thessaloniki where higher ranked Promitheas (11-11) was crushed by ninth ranked PAOK (9-13) 84-65 on Wednesday. The game without a history. PAOK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. PAOK outrebounded Promitheas 39-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jermaine Love (190-1989, college: UIS) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 assists and the former international point guard Vasileios Toliopoulos (186-1996) who added 12 points during the contest. Four PAOK players scored in double figures. PAOK's coach Aris Likogiannis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American power forward Dario Hunt (204-1989, college: Nevada) with 11 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Trevis Simpson (193-1991, college: UNCG) scored 16 points. PAOK moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Peristeri. Promitheas lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. PAOK will meet higher ranked Kolossos HH (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Promitheas will play against Iraklis and hope to secure a win.
