Regular Season Round 29: Brescia - Varese 102-71
Date: May 1, 2022
Very predictable result when third ranked Brescia (21-8) outscored at home 11th ranked Varese (12-17) 102-71 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Greek-Canadian guard Nazareth Mitrou-Long (193-1993, college: Iowa St., agency: BeoBasket) who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American swingman John Petrucelli (193-1992, college: Molloy) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five Brescia players scored in double figures. Brescia's coach Alessandro Magro felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominican-Puerto Rican swingman Justin Reyes (193-1995, college: STAC) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and Estonian Siim-Sander Vene (201-1990) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Brescia. They maintain third place with 21-8 record having three points less than leader Virtus BO. Loser Varese dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Brindisi. Brescia are looking forward to face league's leader Virtus BO in Bologna in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Varese will play at home against Sassari (#6) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
