Regular Season Round 29: Milano - Brindisi 92-87
Date: May 1, 2022
There was no surprise when 10th ranked Brindisi (12-17) was defeated on the road by second ranked Milano (23-5) 92-87 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Milano made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Troy Daniels (193-1991, college: VCU) who scored 21 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Ghanian-American Ben Bentil (204-1995, college: Providence) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Milano's coach Ettore Messina used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Alessandro Zanelli (188-1992, agency: Players Group) produced 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international swingman Alessandro Gentile (201-1992, agency: SLN) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Four Milano and five Brindisi players scored in double figures. Milano have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 23-5 record having just two points less than leader Virtus BO. Brindisi at the other side keeps the tenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Varese. Milano are looking forward to face Venezia (#4) on the road in the next round. Brindisi will play against Tortona (#5) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
