Regular Season Round 31: Acunsa GBC - Alicante 72-68

Rather expected game in San Sebastian where 12th ranked Alicante (14-16) was defeated by tenth ranked Acunsa GBC (14-16) 72-68 on Monday. Acunsa GBC outrebounded Alicante 41-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Kyle Mallers (201-1997, college: Ball St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points. Croatian power forward Mario Delas (207-1990) helped adding 13 points and 12 rebounds. Acunsa GBC's coach Lorenzo Encinas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American-Nigerian guard Zaid Hearst (194-1992, college: Quinnipiac) responded with 23 points and 8 rebounds and Croatian swingman Fran Pilepic (193-1989) scored 12 points. Despite that victory Acunsa GBC went down to eleventh position due to points difference, which they share with defeated Alicante. Alicante lost fourth consecutive game. Acunsa GBC will meet Juaristi ISB (#16) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Alicante will play against Huesca (#18) and hope to secure a win.
