Regular Season Round 32: Chalons-Reims - Paris 109-77
Date: May 3, 2022
Bottom-ranked Chalons-Reims managed to get a eighth victory, breaking the twelve-game losing streak. This time they outleveled fourteenth-ranked Paris 109-77. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 32-point difference proves that Chalons-Reims was well-prepared to that game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Paris' 26. Chalons-Reims had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Paris' players. The winners were led by American forward Donte Grantham (203-1995, college: Clemson) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 assists and center Neal Sako (210-1998) supported him with 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Chalons-Reims' coach Cedric Heitz felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 14 points and 4 assists by American point guard Kyle Allman (190-1997, college: CS Fullerton) did not help to save the game for Paris. His fellow American import forward Dustin Sleva (203-1995, college: Shippensburg) added 10 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Five Paris players scored in double figures. Chalons-Reims maintains eighteenth position with 8-24 record. Newly promoted Paris keeps the fourteenth place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Le Portel. Chalons-Reims will play against higher ranked Entente Orleans 45 (#16) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Paris will play against Limoges CSP Elite and will have a slim chance for a victory.
