Fenerbahce cruised past Mersin in the opener. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin's 30. They outrebounded Mersin 39-25 including 16 on the offensive glass. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Mersin's players. American center Elizabeth Williams (190-1993, college: Duke) fired 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Her fellow American import point guard Kayla McBride (180-1992, college: Notre Dame) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Fenerbahce's coach Marina Maljkovic felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Croatian-American point guard Shavonte Zellous (178-1986, college: Pittsburgh) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and North Macedonian-American guard DeWanna Bonner (193-1987, college: Auburn) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side.
