Start used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Bydgoszcz 101-97 on Friday night. Start outrebounded Enea Astoria 45-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Start made 7 blocks. American guard Sherron Dorsey-Walker (195-1993, college: Oakland) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Cleveland Melvin (203-1991, college: DePaul) chipped in 25 points. Start's coach Artur Gronek used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American point guard Mike Smith (180-1997, college: Michigan) responded with 26 points and 4 assists and American-Dominican point guard Eddy Polanco (193-1994, college: SE Louisiana) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four Start and five Enea Astoria players scored in double figures. Start will meet GTK in the next round. Enea Astoria will play against Spojnia in Stargard and hope to win that game.
