Spojnia used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Bydgoszcz 73-72 on Friday night. Spojnia dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Enea Astoria's 36. American-Kosovan Shawn Jones (203-1992, college: MTSU) notched 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and American Jordan Mathews (191-1994, college: Gonzaga) supported him with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Spojnia's coach Sebastian Machowski allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 24 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by American forward Benjamin Simons (203-1991, college: Drake) did not help to save the game for Enea Astoria. His fellow American import point guard Mike Smith (180-1997, college: Michigan) added 18 points and 4 assists for the guests. Spojnia will meet Legia in the next round. Enea Astoria will play against Anwil and hope to win that game.
