Regular Season Round 3: ASVEL - Bourg 90-80

Very important is a road loss of Bourg (2-1) against ASVEL (2-1) on Friday night. Visiting Bourg was defeated by ASVEL in Villeurbanne 90-80. ASVEL dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Bourg's 30. They outrebounded Bourg 47-33 including 16 on the offensive glass. ASVEL looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Gambian center Babacar Mbye (212-2002) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Guard Noah Manet (194-2004) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. ASVEL's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Elian Benitez (180-2003) with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Hugo Cucherat (194-2002) scored 16 points and 4 steals. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. ASVEL will meet Le Portel (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bourg will play against Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
