Regular Season Round 4: Thor AK - Hamar 81-61

Rather expected game in Akureyri where 6th ranked Hamar (1-3) was crushed by fourth ranked Thor AK (3-1) 81-61 on Friday. The game without a history. Thor AK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hamar to just 7 points in first quarter. Thor AK made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hamar 70-29 including a 29-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Maddie Sutton (180-1998, college: Tusculum) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points and 26 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Eva Eliasdottir (169-2004) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Jenna Mastellone (178-1999, college: SFU) produced 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and forward Emma Hakonardottir (180-2005) added 5 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Thor AK moved-up to third place, which they share with Snaefell. Loser Hamar dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Tindastoll. Thor AK will meet Athena (#6) in the next round. Hamar will play against Tindastoll and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
