There was a surprise result when Almeria outscored at home Granada 76-54 on Saturday. Almeria forced 22 Granada turnovers. Forward Maria Fernandez (175-1996) scored 15 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Irene Garrido (185-1997, college: Minnesota) chipped in 14 points and 6 steals during the contest. Swingman Maria Cerqueira (174-1974) responded with 8 points and 6 rebounds and Luxembourg Marija Stojiljkovic (190-1998) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Almeria will meet Cortegada in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Granada will play against Genero and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the LF Challenge just one year after relegation.
