The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Leon on the court of Plasencia on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Plasencia 64-52. American swingman Amy Griffin (183-1996, college: La Salle) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Alicia Morales (-1998) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Dominican Cesarina Capellan (178-2003) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Uruguayan point guard Florencia Niski (165-2002) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Plasencia will meet at home Unicaja in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leon will play against Arxil and hope to win that game.
