There was no surprise when 5th ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (2-2) was defeated on the road by top-ranked Monaco (4-0) 95-85 on Sunday. Monaco made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Monaco outrebounded Gravelines-Dunkerque 33-20 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Monaco especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Matthew Strazel (182-2002) fired 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international power forward Yoan Makoundou (206-2000, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Monaco's coach Sasa Obradovic used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Romuald Morency (202-1995) produced 16 points and American JaJuan Johnson (208-1989, college: Purdue) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Monaco have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Le Mans and Blois. Loser Gravelines-Dunkerque dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Monaco will meet bottom-ranked Paris (#18) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gravelines-Dunkerque will play against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
