Regular Season Round 1: Leppavaaran P. - HyPo 76-85

Very significant was HyPo's 85-76 road victory against Leppavaaran P.. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-14. But Leppavaaran P. won second period 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. HyPo forced 23 Leppavaaran P. turnovers. Guard Pyry Hinkkanen (182-1997) nailed 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and power forward Toni Honka (193-1984) accounted for 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four HyPo players scored in double figures. Forward Samppa Maki (193-2001) came up with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Lauri Hynonen (193-2002) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Leppavaaran P. in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. HyPo will play against Raholan P. in Tampere in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Leppavaaran P. will play on the road against Pantterit in Helsinki to get more than just one victory in their record.
