Regular Season Round 2: Palermo - Ragusa 91-81

There was a minor upset when Ragusa lost on the road to Palermo 91-81 on Sunday. Palermo dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ragusa's 28. Power forward Giuseppe Caronna (208-1994) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and Dario Masciarelli (195-1998) supported him with 18 points. Four Palermo players scored in double figures. Palermo's coach Marco Verderosa used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points by guard Giovanni Ianelli (190-2000) did not help to save the game for Ragusa. Guard Roberto Chessari (195-2000) added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Palermo will meet Desio on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Ragusa will play against Vicenza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
