Regular Season Round 2: Ensino - Avenida 62-55

There was a surprise result when Ensino won against Avenida in Lugo 62-55 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Avenida 35-23 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Blanca Millan (185-1998, college: Maine) notched 17 points to lead the effort and American Margaret Roundtree (183-1988, college: Gardner-Webb) supported her with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Erica McCall (190-1995, college: Stanford) did not help to save the game for Avenida. The former international guard Leonor Rodriguez-Manso (180-1991, college: FSU) added 12 points for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ensino will meet Girona on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Avenida will play against Valencia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
