Regular Season Round 4: Victoria - Olimpia 24-76
Date: October 12, 2022
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Grodno: Olimpia (#1) and Victoria (#5). Victoria was smashed at home by 52 points 24-76 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Olimpia held Victoria to an opponent 15.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Olimpia forced 32 Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 47-35 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Victoria's players. Worth to mention a great performance of center Palina Damianiak (190-2005) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Katsiaryna Novik (179-2005) contributed with 10 points, 6 assists and 8 steals for the winners. Forward Alesia Slizh (182-2004) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and guard Karina Kurstak (170-2005) added 2 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Victoria. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpia have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Victoria at the other side keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Olimpia are looking forward to face Tsmoki-Minsk (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Victoria will play against the league's second-placed Gorizont in Minsk and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
