Regular Season Round 4: Kobrat - Vilpas 93-88

Very expected game when 10th ranked Vilpas (1-3) lost to third ranked Kobrat (3-1) in Lapua 88-93 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vilpas won third quarter 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kobrat won last quarter 29-26. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American forward Danny Pippen (206-1997, college: Kent St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard KJ Jackson (188-1998, college: UMBC) supported him with 18 points and 6 assists. Even 21 points and 5 rebounds by American Isaiah Crawley (201-1998, college: Georgia South) did not help to save the game for Vilpas. Point guard Perttu Blomgren (195-2001) added 16 points for lost side. Four Kobrat and five Vilpas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kobrat moved-up to second place, which they share with Kotka. Loser Vilpas dropped to the bottom position with three games lost. They share it with Korihait. Kobrat will meet Seagulls (#5) in the next round. Vilpas will play against Kataja (#6) in Joensuu and hope to win that game.
