Regular Season Round 5: Fos-sur-Mer - Le Portel 79-77

There was no surprise in Fos-sur-Mer where bottom-ranked Le Portel (0-5) was edged by twelfth ranked Provence Basket (2-2) 79-77 on Friday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Provence Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Le Portel's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Naturalized Central African Allan Dokossi (203-1999) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American point guard Jamar Diggs (190-1988, college: Wofford) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists. American guard Ronald Curry (193-1993, college: JMU) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Terry Allen (203-1993, college: Richmond, agency: One Motive Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Five Provence Basket and four Le Portel players scored in double figures. Le Portel's coach Eric Girard rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Provence Basket moved-up to tenth place. Loser Le Portel still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Paris. Provence Basket will meet Limoges CSP Elite (#14) on the road in the next round. Le Portel will play against Le Mans and hopes to get finally their first victory.
