There was a surprise result when San Salvatore won against at home Matelica 72-59 on Saturday. San Salvatore dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Matelica's 20. They outrebounded Matelica 46-29 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Salvatore looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Polish forward Aleksandra Makurat (187-1997, college: Utah) who scored 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Slovenian forward Zala Srot (184-2004) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Debora Gonzalez (170-1990, agency: Players Group) produced 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Asya Zamparini (172-2000) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. San Salvatore will meet La Spezia on the road in the next round. Matelica will play against Vigarano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
