Regular Season Round 4: AZS UJK - Zyrardow 72-102
Date: October 15, 2022
Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Zyrardow (2-1) outplayed bottom-ranked AZS UJK (0-4) in Kielce 102-72 on Saturday. Zyrardow dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to AZS UJK's 36. Zyrardow forced 21 AZS UJK turnovers and outrebounded them 46-21 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. The winners were led by forward Marcin Wieczorkowski (190-1994) who scored that evening 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and forward Damian Orebski (196-1997) supported him with 24 points. Four Zyrardow players scored in double figures. Even 22 points by Jakub Lewandowski (190-1992) did not help to save the game for AZS UJK. Igor Wierzbicki (185-2005) added 10 points and 4 assists for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zyrardow moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser AZS UJK still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Ochota W-wa. Zyrardow will meet at home higher ranked Zubry (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. AZS UJK will play against the league's second-placed Energa W-wa (#2) in Warszawa and hopes to get finally their first victory.
