There was a small surprise in Veneto where Costa Masnaga smashed Ponzano 84-48 on Saturday. Costa Masnaga forced 19 Ponzano turnovers and outrebounded them 48-27 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Vittoria Allievi (183-2003) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Cristina Osazuwa (193-2005) chipped in 8 points and 12 rebounds. Swedish swingman Amanda Tivenius (182-1996, college: CS Fullerton) produced 7 points and 7 rebounds and forward Giovanna Pertile (182-1992) added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Costa Masnaga will meet at home Mantova in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ponzano will play against Alpo in Verona and hope to win that game.
