The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Rubon's (2-3) road victory over bottom-ranked Gomel (0-5) 102-63 on Saturday. Rubon made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 Gomel turnovers and outrebounded them 51-36 including 38 on the defensive glass. Rubon looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Gomel's players. The winners were led by Russian forward Marsel Ovsepyan (202-1990) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and the former international forward Victor Ovsepyan (202-1991) supported him with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Rubon players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by point guard Aliaksandr Yasevich (185-2001) did not help to save the game for Gomel. Russian center Mikhail Pakhryaev (206-2000) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rubon maintains fifth position with 2-3 record. Loser Gomel still closes the standings with five games lost. Rubon will meet higher ranked Tsmoki II (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gomel will play against the league's leader Borisfen in Mogilev and hopes to get finally their first victory.
