Regular Season Round 2: Arka Gdynia - Polkowice 53-50

A very close game took place in Gdynia between Arka Gdynia and Polkowice. Arka Gdynia got a very close home victory over Polkowice. Arka Gdynia managed to escape with a 3-point win 53-50 on Saturday evening. Arka Gdynia forced 26 Polkowice turnovers. Strangely Polkowice outrebounded Arka Gdynia 44-30 including 18 on the offensive glass. American guard Haley Gorecki (183-1996, college: Duke) notched 16 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Jasmine Thomas (175-1991, college: Michigan St.) supported her with 6 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds by international center Weronika Telenga (192-1995) did not help to save the game for Polkowice. Greek forward Artemis Spanou (187-1993, college: RMU) added 5 points and 12 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Arka Gdynia will meet Bydgoszcz on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Polkowice will play against Pruszkow and hope to win that game.
