There was a small surprise in Madrid where Estudiantes (2-2) beat Araski (2-2) 75-60 on Saturday. Estudiantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Araski's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Estudiantes made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Nadia Fingall (191-1998, college: Stanford) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Melisa Gretter (166-1993) chipped in 6 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. Estudiantes' coach David Gallego used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-1996, college: Temple) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Txell Alarcon (179-2003) added 11 points respectively. Estudiantes will meet at home Barca CBS (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Araski will play against Valencia and hope to secure a win.
