Everything went according to plan when twelfth ranked Baskonia (2-2) won against on the road bottom-ranked Zaragoza (0-4) 97-83 on Sunday. Baskonia shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Ivorian power forward Matt Costello (208-1993, college: Michigan St.) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and Lithuanian swingman Rokas Giedraitis (200-1992) who added 19 points during the contest. At the losing side the former international Santiago Yusta (200-1997) responded with 22 points and American guard Justinian Jessup (201-1998, college: Boise St.) scored 14 points. Four Zaragoza players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Baskonia moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Zaragoza still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Girona. Baskonia will meet at home league's leader Real Madrid in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Zaragoza will play against Fuenlabrada (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
