Regular Season Round 5: Tsmoki II - Rubon 59-75

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Minsk where 4th placed Tsmoki II (2-3) was defeated by fifth ranked Rubon (3-3) 75-59. Rubon dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tsmoki II's 30. Rubon forced 20 Tsmoki II turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including 28 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Ukrainian point guard Ernesto Tkachuk (190-1994, agency: BIG) nailed 9 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Russian forward Marsel Ovsepyan (202-1990) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Vadzim Stubeda (205-2000) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Kiryl Vaskautsou (196-2003) added 9 points respectively for Tsmoki II in the defeat. Tsmoki II's coach Georgiy Kondrusevich rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Rubon moved-up to third place. Tsmoki II lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Impuls BGUIR. Rubon will play against league's second-placed Grodno at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tsmoki II will play against Gomel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
