Regular Season Round 6: Armann - KR 65-70
Date: October 19, 2022
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: KR (#3) and Armann (#6). Armann was defeated at home 65-70 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-65. KR dominated on the defensive end, holding Armann to just 5 points in second quarter. They also forced 24 Armann turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Armann helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Violet Morrow (176-1997, college: EWU, agency: Interperformances) who led her team to a victory with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Fanney Ragnarsdottir (172-1996) contributed with 8 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Morrow is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Hildur Karadottir (180-1999) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Schekinah Bimpa (180-1998, college: Limestone) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Armann. Armann's coach Karl Gudlaugsson tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. KR (5-1) moved-up to second place, which they share with Snaefell. Armann lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. KR is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Breidablik B (#9) in Kopavogur in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Armann will play on the road against Hamar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
