Regular Season Round 5: Njardvik - Breidablik 94-79

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Breidablik (1-4) was defeated on the road by third ranked Njardvik (4-1) 94-79 on Wednesday. Breidablik was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The best player for the winners was Portuguese point guard Raquel Laniero (171-2000) who scored 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). American guard Aliyah Collier (183-1997, college: Clemson) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 21 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. American guard Sabrina Haines (178-1997, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian-Hungarian swingman Sanja Orozovic (186-1990) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Njardvik. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Haukar. Loser Breidablik keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Grindavik. Njardvik will meet league's second-placed Haukar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Breidablik will play against IR (#8) in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
