Regular Season Round 5: Alcobendas - Picken Claret 53-66

The game between third ranked Alcobendas (3-2) and sixteenth ranked Picken Claret (1-4) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Alcobendas was defeated by Picken Claret in Alcobendas 66-53. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Alcobendas. They outrebounded Alcobendas 45-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Latvian power forward Liga Vente (190-1991, college: Eckerd) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Marina Bleda chipped in 17 points. Guard Lucia Togores (176-1996) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Clara Rodriguez (184-1996) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Picken Claret left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Adareva and Azkoitia. Alcobendas at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Zamarat and Paterna. Picken Claret is looking forward to face higher ranked Real Canoe (#10) in Madrid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alcobendas will play on the road against Joventut (#8) in Badalona and is hoping to win this game.
