La Spezia used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from San Salvatore 63-49 on Saturday night. La Spezia dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to San Salvatore's 28. They outrebounded San Salvatore 44-29 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Martina Zolfanelli (171-1998) who led her team to a victory scoring 10 points and 4 assists. Guard Martina Guzzoni (178-2006) helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four La Spezia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Marta Granzotto (173-1992) with 9 points and 7 rebounds and Slovenian forward Zala Srot (184-2004) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. La Spezia will meet Patti (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. San Salvatore will play against Battipaglia and hope to win that game.
