Regular Season Round 3: Alpo - Ponzano 67-59

There was a minor upset in Verona where Ponzano (1-2) was defeated by Alpo (1-2) 67-59 on Saturday. It was a great evening for guard Ilaria Moriconi (165-2000) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Martina Rosignoli (176-2001, agency: DC Sports) helped adding 23 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was swingman Marta Pellegrini (178-2002) with 21 points and Swedish swingman Amanda Tivenius (182-1996, college: CS Fullerton) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Ponzano's coach Matteo Gambarotto rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Alpo will meet Udine (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ponzano will play against Scrivia (#3) and hope to win that game.
