Regular Season Round 4: La Roda - Real Canoe 104-96

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Real Canoe (1-3) lost on the road to third ranked La Roda (3-1) 104-96 on Saturday. La Roda dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Real Canoe's 26 and made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. La Roda looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by Turkish forward Yigit Mestoglu (201-2004) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and American-Jamaican guard Jahvaughn Powell (183-1996, college: Nicholls St., agency: Helping Ballers) supported him with 26 points and 4 assists. Even 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists by forward Jorge Parra (192-1998) did not help to save the game for Real Canoe. Alfonso Ortiz (190-1999) added 19 points for lost side. Five La Roda and four Real Canoe players scored in double figures. Real Canoe's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. La Roda moved-up to second place in Silver. Loser Real Canoe dropped to the twelfth position with three games lost. La Roda will meet league's leader Burgos on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Real Canoe will play against Baskonia B (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
