Regular Season Round 5: AZS UMK - Pabianice 91-81

There was no surprise in Torun where 9th ranked Pabianice (2-3) was defeated by third ranked AZS UMK (4-1) 91-81 on Saturday. AZS UMK made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Arkadiusz Kobus (196-1986) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Aleksander Griszczuk (201-2001) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Marcel Karpiak (198-1999) produced 25 points and 5 rebounds and forward Sebastian Szymanski (194-1998) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. AZS UMK moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Pabianice keeps the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Zgierz and Notec Inowr.. AZS UMK will meet Gdynia GAK (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pabianice will play against AMW Gdynia and hope to secure a win.
