Regular Season Round 4: Martorell - Mataro UE 81-103
Date: October 22, 2022
Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Mataro UE (3-1) outplayed on the road 10th ranked Martorell (1-3) 103-81 on Saturday. Mataro UE dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Martorell's 38. Mataro UE forced 20 Martorell turnovers and outrebounded them 45-25 including 18 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by naturalized Gambian forward Omaru Toure (199-1994) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and forward Jordi Juanola (196-1998) supported him with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Four Mataro UE players scored in double figures. Even 27 points (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) by point guard Albert Valle (181-1992) did not help to save the game for Martorell. Center Eloy Domenech (-2003) added 11 points for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mataro UE moved-up to third place in Group C-1, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Martorell keeps the tenth position with three games lost. They share it with Mataro Parc and Almozara. Mataro UE's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Mataro Mataro Parc.
