The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Kortrijk as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Kortrijk smashed 5th ranked Merelbeke Hawks at home 107-63. Kortrijk dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Merelbeke Hawks' 42. Kortrijk forced 21 Merelbeke Hawks turnovers and outrebounded them 45-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Merelbeke Hawks' players. The best player for the winners was Dutch center Yarick Brussen (208-2000) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Mathieu Coucke (197-2000) chipped in 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five Kortrijk players scored in double figures. Kortrijk's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Merelbeke Hawks will play next round against strong LDP Donza trying to get back on the winning streak. Kortrijk will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Waregem at home.
