Regular Season Round 4: La Solana - Santa Cruz 79-78

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked La Solana (1-1) edged at home higher ranked Santa Cruz (1-1) 79-78 on Saturday. The winners were led by Mario Garcia who scored that evening 16 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Dominican guard Sdenry Gonzalez (187-2002) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Even 22 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by Eduardo Chacon did not help to save the game for Santa Cruz. American Romeo Smith (201-1995, college: Missouri Valley) added 21 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. La Solana left bottom position moving up to fourth place in Group B-A, which they share with 7 other teams including defeated Santa Cruz. La Solana will meet Rivas (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Santa Cruz will play against Estudio (#12) and hope to win that game.
