There was a surprise result in Barcelona where twelfth ranked Lima-Horta (2-2) smashed higher ranked Cordoba (2-3) 86-61 on Sunday. Lima-Horta dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Cordoba's 34. Lima-Horta forced 21 Cordoba turnovers. Guard Eliana Soriano (175-1989) stepped up and scored 15 points, 9 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and guard Nuria Barrientos (180, college: Idaho St.) chipped in 14 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Lima-Horta's coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Serbian center Vladinka Erak (192-1984) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Cristina Ugochukwu scored 7 points and 10 rebounds. Lima-Horta moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Joventut. Newly promoted Cordoba dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. They share it with Real Canoe and Ardoi. Lima-Horta will meet league's second-placed Al-Qazeres in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cordoba will play against Ardoi (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
