Brescia can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Valdarno (0-5) 68-67 on Sunday. Brescia forced 21 Valdarno turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Carlotta Zanardi (180-2005) who scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Brooke Johnson (183-1996, college: UNLV) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Australian guard Madeleine Garrick (180-1992) produced 32 points and 8 rebounds and American Peyton Whitted (190-1995, college: Penn St.) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Brescia (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with Lucca. It was Valdarno's fifth loss in a row. Valdarno at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Crema. Brescia is looking forward to face league's second-placed Venezia on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valdarno will play against Lucca (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
