Regular Season Round 4: Stjarnan - Njardvik 67-88
Date: October 27, 2022
Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Stjarnan (2-2) was rolled over at home by top-ranked Njardvik (4-0) 88-67 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Njardvik. Stjarnan managed to win fourth quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Njardvik looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Njardvik made 8 blocks. Argentinian Lisandro Rasio (197-1990) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Dedrick Basile (178-1994, college: CSUB) chipped in 11 points and 9 assists. Five Njardvik players scored in double figures. American point guard Robert Turner III (190-1993, college: Texas Tech, agency: Interperformances) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard Julius Agustsson (194-2001, college: Caldwell) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Njardvik have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Stjarnan at the other side dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Grindavik and Hottur. Njardvik will meet at home Grindavik (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Stjarnan will play against Tindastoll in Sauoarkrokur and hope to secure a win.
