Regular Season Round 4: Haukar - Valur 77-87
Date: October 28, 2022
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Haukar (3-1) against fifth ranked Valur (3-1) on Friday night. Host Haukar was defeated by Valur in Hafnarfjordur 87-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Haukar. The game was mostly controlled by Valur. Haukar was better in third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by the former international guard Kari Jonsson (192-1997, college: Drexel) who scored that evening 28 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Argentinian-Italian Pablo Bertone (190-1990, college: FAU, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds by Lithuanian power forward Norbertas Giga (208-1995, college: JSU) did not help to save the game for Haukar. Danish forward Daniel Mortensen (204-1994, college: Barry) added 18 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Valur have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Haukar. Valur will play against bottom-ranked Thor Thorl (#12) in Thorlakshofn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Haukar will play on the road against Keflavik (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
