Regular Season Round 7: Pont-de-Cheruy - Caen 61-92

There was a minor upset in Pont de Cheruy where 5th ranked SOPCC (4-3) was rolled over by eighth ranked Caen (4-3) 92-61 on Friday. Caen made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 SOPCC turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for naturalized DR Congolese point guard Carl Ona-Embo (188-1989) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 4 assists. Guard Yanik Blanc (188-1999) helped adding 17 points. Ona-Embo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Caen players scored in double figures. At the losing side DR Congolese Yasmin Mambo (205-2002) responded with 10 points and 5 rebounds and Senegalese center Ousseynou Laye-Basse (210-1992) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caen moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated SOPCC. Caen will meet at home Pontoise (#9) in the next round. SOPCC will play against Feurs CTC and hope to secure a win.
