Regular Season Round 6: Hrunamenn - Alftanes 78-87

There was no surprise in Fludir where 6th ranked Hrunamenn (2-4) was defeated by top-ranked Alftanes (6-0) 87-78 on Friday. The guests trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Point guard Dui Jonsson (183-2001) scored 37 points (!!!) and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Croatian swingman Dino Stipcic (196-1989) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Ahmad Gilbert (200-1996, college: St.Thomas, FL) with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and American-Hungarian forward Sam Burt (201-1994, college: FPU) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Hrunamenn's coach Konrad Tota rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Alftanes have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Loser Hrunamenn dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. Alftanes will meet at home Skallagrimur (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Hrunamenn will play against IA in Akranes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
