Regular Season Round 5: Widzew - Aleksandrow L. 86-32

There was a minor upset in Lodz where bottom-ranked Aleksandrow L. (0-4) was crushed by thirteenth ranked Widzew (1-4) 86-32 on Saturday. Widzew held Aleksandrow L. to an opponent 18.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Widzew forced 31 Aleksandrow L. turnovers and outrebounded them 58-40 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Anna Kudelska (169-1998) who scored 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Power forward Marta Piatek (190-1989) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Widzew's coach Anna Chodera felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Oliwia Beben (175-2005) produced 9 points and 8 rebounds and guard Barbara Lubaszka (175-2005) added 5 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Widzew left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with AZS UMCS II and Enea AZS II P. It was Aleksandrow L.'s fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Widzew will meet Gorzow Wlkp. II (#13) in the next round. Aleksandrow L. will play against Katy Wrocl. and hopes to get finally their first victory.
