Regular Season Round 6: Picken Claret - Real Canoe 86-65

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Picken Claret (2-4) crushed higher ranked Real Canoe (2-4) in Valencia 86-65 on Saturday. Picken Claret looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Areanna Combs (178, college: EMU) notched 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Latvian power forward Liga Vente (190-1991, college: Eckerd) supported her with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Picken Claret players scored in double figures. Even 19 points by swingman Macarena Roldan (174-1994) did not help to save the game for Real Canoe. Portuguese forward Mariana Silva (184-1999) added 13 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Picken Claret moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Real Canoe. Real Canoe lost fourth consecutive game. Picken Claret will meet at home higher ranked Joventut (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Real Canoe will play against Melilla (#16) and hope to secure a win.
